District of Stewart Winter Storm Update - Impacts to Wastewater System

The Sewer Force Main line suffered a rupture and repairs have been initiated.
Currently, the ability of the system to evacuate wastewater to the lagoons is limited. This, coupled with the extreme precipitation Stewart has encountered, is amplifying the strain to the infrastructure. Crews are working to mitigate the issues.
In addition to these efforts, the District is also seeking cooperation from the community in the interim, to limit impacts to the system by not operating appliances (washing machines, dishwashers, running taps, etc), that would further send wastewater through the District's burdened infrastructure.
