Alerts can be issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada for environmental hazards and by Emergency Management BC for Tsunami related events.

What will an Alert Ready Message Look Like?

For those of you who may not have received the texts initiated by Alert Ready, compatible Wireless Devices will display an “Emergency Alert” banner, followed by text that describes the situation and provides instructions. The issuing government agency is also indicated. Note there will be no follow-up or All Clear messages delivered.

How Do I Register to Receive Alert Ready Messages?

There is no sign-up required to receive Alert Ready Messages and no opportunity to opt out of receiving Alert Ready messages. Alert Ready will detect all wireless devices within the hazard zone and send messages only to those who are within the affected area. It is important to note that you will only receive these messages if you have a compatible wireless device and if your phone is powered on and connected to the LTE network.

How Do I Know if My Phone is Compatible?

A compatible device must be able to use the LTE network for high-speed wireless communications and have software installed for Wireless Public Alerting.
