Public Input Opportunities
Throughout the year, the District of Stewart hosts a number of public hearings and public input opportunities on matters impacting the citizens of Stewart. Some public input opportunities, such as those dealing with zoning amendments, development variance permits and liquor licensing are mandated by the Local Government Act or Community Charter. On other occasions, Council invites the public to participate in planning sessions on matters impacting the community at large. These matters include the District’s Financial Plan and the Official Community Plan or The Strategic Plan.
The District encourages anyone who believes that his/her interest is affected to participate in the public process.
During a public hearing or public input opportunity, those wishing to speak are asked to come forward and begin their presentation by giving their name and address. Everyone is welcome to make his or her own views known.
