Biographies
Mayor Angela Brand Danuser
- Angela was born and raised in the Prince George and Quesnel area. After graduating from the Marketing and Management program from the College of New Caledonia, she moved to Stewart in 1989. Angela and Brian have two children, Justin and Jorja, and co-own Brand New Video. Angela was employed as the Manager of the Stewart/Hyder Chamber of Commerce and for the District of Stewart before starting her political career when she was elected to the School Board in 1996. Elected in 2002, she is currently in her second term as Mayor.
Councillor Belcher
- Billie Ann Belcher was elected to her first term as Councillor in November 2005. She has always taken an active interest in the community and volunteered many hours to the Stewart Historical Society, Stewart Public Library, Stewart Yacht Club, Chamber of Commerce and Minor Hockey. She has been Stewart's director for 16/37 Community Futures for many years and is currently the past chair. Billie holds a BA in Business Administration and manages a home based accounting business. She and her husband, Garry have lived in Stewart for the last 19 years.
Councillor Durant
- Galina Durrant was born in Russia and moved to Canada in 1996. She received her Bachelor Degree in Commodity Research and Marketing of Food Products from Moscow University, Diploma in Management and Administration from Moscow Law School, Diploma in Accounting from the International Correspondence School, Montreal, Canada and Community Library Training Program certificate from BSLA, Victoria, BC.
- In addition to being a District Councillor, she has served as a Treasurer of the Stewart / Hyder Chamber of commerce and is currently the Community Librarian at the Stewart Public Library. Galina has served on boards such as the Stewart youth Centre, Stewart Public Library Association, Hospital Women Auxiliary and Snow Country Health Board. Galina and her husband, Roger have a daughter Jenia and two stepsons Andy and Rob, and four beautiful grandchildren.
Councillor Lynn
- Patricia Lynn was elected to her first term as councillor in the November 2006 By-election. Her portfolio includes heritage, library, Chamber of Commerce and Museum. She currently sits on the Tourism committee and is Vice-Chair of the Economic Development/ Port Committee.
- Councillor Lynn is also Stewart's representative for the Kitimat-Stikine Regional District where she sits on the Finance committee, Economic Development committee, the Heritage Advisory Commission and the Regional Hospital board.
- Patricia has been active in the community for over 20 years serving as the Stewart/Hyder International Chamber of Commerce president, a board member of the Salmonid Enhancement Society, a member of the Stewart Volunteer Fire Department and was also the area coordinator for the Stewart Emergency Program. She is currently employed by Environment Canada as a certified aviation weather observer. She has four grown children, Brandy, Jeremiah, Amy and Ashley and five grandchildren.
